If You Have to Explain It, It’s Not Funny

Something just reminded me of an old joke from a few years back.

You know how Saddam Hussein has a few lookalikes to appear in public in his stead, because he was always in danger of being assassinated?

During the US invasion of Iraq, these lookalikes were hunkered down in a bunker together, waiting for news of Saddam. After the initial bombardment is over, an aide brings them the official word: Saddam has survived the bombing. “Huzzah!” they all shout.

The aide then breaks the bad news: “…but he lost an arm.”

During these serious times people of all faiths should remember these 4 religious truths:

1. Muslims do not recognize Jews as God’s chosen people.
2. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
3. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the leader of the Christian world.
4. Baptists do not recognize each other at Hooters.
