A Ferris Wheel for Baghdad

According to this article, Baghdad’s city fathers are in the market for a giant ferris wheel. They want it to be taller than the London Eye, and they plan to call it the Baghdad Eye.

For my money, this is the funniest line of the article:

Now that insurgent attacks and sectarian bloodshed have declined over the past year, Iraqis are venturing outside their homes.

Families are often seen relaxing at night in parks and children flock to pools.

Well, of course they are. They have about two hours of electricity a day and the temperature is in the hundred and teens. Mondays high was 116 degrees F.
